Sectors: Water Infrastructure

pixieIt is estimated that between $250 billion and $300 billion is needed to update and upgrade the U.S. water system infrastructure.  Worldwide waste water and drinking water treatment cost is $500 billion and is expected to reach $1 trillion by 2020.  Industry and government crave new technologies that clean and test water supplies and that are able to keep up with the many challenges from new impurities and stringent requirements.  The reverse osmosis market alone is approximately $4 billion, but there are many operational and technical limitations in reverse osmosis systems.  New technologies enhance or displace these systems and serve the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, oil and gas and other industry wastewater systems.

Despite its remarkable growth in recent years, new innovations in water testing and waste water cleanup technologies are just beginning to move out of the lab and into commercial production.  Much as we saw a lull between the first and second waves of renewable energy technologies, water technologies are about to experience a resurgence in investment and rapid market growth.
