Sectors: Traditional Energy
Traditional energy sources: coal, natural gas and oil, continue to be the foundational supply for our global energy needs. Coal generates about half of the electricity used in the United States, while natural gas accounts for approximately one quarter of the nation’s total energy use and 25% of electrical production. There is enough natural gas in the United States to meet over 75 years of domestic production.
At the same time, new technologies in natural gas drilling and gasification with carbon sequestration are remaking the traditional energy sector and effectively creating a bridge to a lower carbon economy. Coequity works with energy companies in large-scale conventional activities and to support the transition to new technologies and projects for energy production.
